General Operative
Position Description:
The General Operative will support day-to-day construction activities on site by carrying out a wide range of manual and practical tasks. The role requires a reliable, safety-conscious individual who can work effectively as part of a team to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.Responsibilities:
- Assist skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, bricklayers, and plant operators
- Carry out general labouring duties including lifting, carrying, and moving materials
- Prepare and clean construction sites, including setting up and removing temporary structures
- Load and unload deliveries of materials and equipment
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools as required
- Follow site plans and instructions from site supervisors or foremen
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Report hazards, defects, or incidents to site management
- Perform other duties as reasonably required to support the project
Qualifications:
- CSCS card
- Manual handling or health & safety training
- Driving licence (an advantage but not essential)
Ground Worker
Position Description:
The Ground Worker is responsible for carrying out a range of groundwork activities on construction sites, supporting the preparation and development of building projects. The role involves working with excavation, drainage, foundations, and external works while ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.Responsibilities:
- Carry out groundwork tasks including excavation, trenching, and backfilling
- Assist with foundations, footpaths, kerbing, concreting, and drainage systems
- Install underground services such as pipes, ducts, and manholes
- Prepare sub-bases for paving, roads, and hard landscaping
- Operate hand tools and small plant machinery (e.g. compactors, breakers)
- Support machine operators during excavation and lifting operations
- Read and follow site drawings and instructions from supervisors
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Report hazards, defects, or issues to site management
- Carry out other duties as required to support project completion
Qualifications:
- CSCS card
- Confined spaces or street works training
- Full driving licence (an advantage)
Swing Shovel Driver
Position Description:
The Swing Shovel Driver is responsible for operating excavators safely and efficiently on construction sites to support excavation, groundwork, and civil engineering activities. The role requires a skilled and safety-focused operator capable of working to plans, coordinating with ground workers, and maintaining equipment to a high standard.Responsibilities:
- Operate swing shovels (excavators) of various sizes in a safe and competent manner
- Carry out excavation works including foundations, drainage, trenching, and bulk earthworks
- Load and unload materials into dumpers, wagons, or stockpiles
- Work closely with ground workers and site supervisors to ensure safe operations
- Follow site drawings, levels, and instructions accurately
- Carry out daily plant checks and basic maintenance
- Ensure plant is used in accordance with manufacturer and site safety requirements
- Maintain awareness of underground services and overhead hazards
- Keep work areas tidy and ensure safe movement around the machine
- Report defects, damage, or safety concerns to site management
- Assist with general site duties when plant operation is not required
Qualifications:
- CPCS or NPORS Excavator Card (Essential)
- CSCS Card
- Lifting Operations endorsement (Desirable)
- Confined spaces or utility awareness training (Desirable)
- Full driving licence (Advantage)
Bricklayer
Position Description:
The Bricklayer is responsible for laying bricks, blocks, and other masonry materials to construct and repair walls, structures, and surfaces according to drawings and specifications. The role requires a skilled tradesperson with a strong understanding of workmanship, safety, and quality standards in construction.Responsibilities:
- Lay bricks, blocks, and masonry units in mortar to build walls, partitions, and structures
- Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
- Set out work accurately, ensuring correct levels, lines, and angles
- Mix and prepare mortar and other materials to required standards
- Repair, maintain, and refurbish existing brickwork and masonry
- Install damp-proof courses (DPC), lintels, and cavity insulation
- Ensure work meets quality standards, building regulations, and project specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Work collaboratively with site managers, supervisors, and other trades
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Identify and report defects, hazards, or issues to site management
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Bricklaying (or equivalent)
- CSCS Skilled Worker Card
- Apprenticeship in bricklaying (Desirable)
- Full driving licence (Advantage)
